Frequently asked questions
Which server settings do I need for my euregio.net email account?
Incoming mail with IMAP: imap.mailprotect.be, port 993, SSL/TLS. Incoming mail with POP3: pop3.mailprotect.be, port 995, SSL/TLS. Outgoing mail (SMTP): smtp-auth.mailprotect.be, port 587, STARTTLS; alternatively port 465 with SSL/TLS. The user name is always your full email address.
What is my user name?
The username must be the full email address, for incoming and for outgoing mail.
Does my password change when I switch to the new servers?
No. You only change the server names and the user name. Your password stays the same and your emails are kept.
What is the difference between IMAP and POP3?
IMAP and POP3 are two ways of fetching email. The difference: with IMAP, mail stays on the server; with POP3, it is downloaded to one device. With IMAP, mail and folders stay on the server. You see the same on every device and in webmail. This is what we recommend. With POP3, mail is downloaded to this one device. Your folders then exist only on this device; other devices do not show them. POP3 makes sense if you want to keep all mail locally or your mailbox quota is limited.
What can I do if the setup does not work?
The username must be the full email address, for incoming and for outgoing mail. Password rejected? Check upper and lower case. It is your mailbox password – when switching servers, the same one as before. A certificate warning almost always means a typing error in the server name.
