Switch an existing account to the new servers
This guide switches IMAP accounts. If your account is listed as “POP”, please call us: removing it could lose mail.

Click the gear icon (“Settings”) at the top right.

2
Click “Accounts” on the left, then “Manage” next to the account you want to change.
Do you have several mail accounts in this program? Each one has to be changed separately.
Is this account listed as “POP”? Then do not remove it: mail that exists only in this program would be lost. Please call us.

This is how it looks now: “IMAP” is shown below your address, and under “IMAP configuration” the hostname is mailin.euregio.net or relay.mailfilter.be. The new Outlook cannot change the incoming server or the user name of an existing account. The account is therefore removed and added again; your mail stays on the server.

Have you created contacts or events in Outlook for this account? They exist only at Microsoft, not on our server. Please call us before removing the account.

Choose “Remove from this device” and click “OK”. Do not choose “Remove from all devices”: that would permanently delete contacts and events you created in Outlook.
Remove Account
You can choose to remove this account from just this device, or from all your devices.

The account is removed. Now click “Add account” and set it up again with the new servers. If Outlook shows the window “Welcome to the new Outlook” instead, type your email address there and continue with the next step.

Switch “Use recommended settings” off. Then enter or correct: IMAP Incoming server imap.mailprotect.be, Port 993, Secure connection type SSL / TLS (recommended). If there is a dot at the end of the server name, delete it.
Do not accept the prefilled server names unchecked: Outlook often puts a dot at the end, and sign-in then fails.

Further down: the SMTP username is your full email address. Under “SMTP password”, type your password again – the field looks filled in but is empty. Do this even though Outlook says below it that this is only needed if the password differs. SMTP Outgoing server smtp-auth.mailprotect.be, Port 587, Secure connection type StartTLS. Delete a dot at the end of the server name here too. Then click “Continue”.

Outlook points out that your mail will be copied to the Microsoft cloud for this. Without agreeing, the account cannot be set up in the new Outlook. Click “Continue”.

Click “Done”. If an error message appears instead, a dot is usually still at the end of a server name. Click “Advanced Setup” there and choose “IMAP”. Type your password, switch “Show more” on and delete the dot after both server names – otherwise the same error comes back. You do not need an app password.
Success!

Port 587, StartTLSUsername Your full email address Password Your mailbox password If it does not work
- The username must be the full email address, for incoming and for outgoing mail.
- Password rejected? Check upper and lower case. It is your mailbox password – when switching servers, the same one as before.
- Sending does not work? Try port 465 with SSL / TLS (recommended) for the outgoing server.
- A certificate warning almost always means a typing error in the server name.
- Could your program not connect before? Try again after changing the servers.
- Receiving works but sending does not? Open “Settings” → “Accounts” → “Manage” → “Repair”. Type your password, switch “Show more” on and “Use recommended settings” off, type the password under “SMTP password” too and delete the dot at the end of the SMTP Outgoing server.
