The form is now titled “POP”. Type your password. Do not click “Continue” yet: first switch “Show more” on. Switch “Use recommended settings” off. Then enter or correct: POP Incoming server pop3.mailprotect.be, Port 995, Secure connection type SSL / TLS (recommended). If there is a dot at the end of the server name, delete it.
Do not accept the prefilled server names unchecked: Outlook often puts a dot at the end, and sign-in then fails.

Further down: the SMTP username is your full email address. Under “SMTP password”, type your password again – the field looks filled in but is empty. Do this even though Outlook says below it that this is only needed if the password differs. SMTP Outgoing server smtp-auth.mailprotect.be, Port 587, Secure connection type StartTLS. Delete a dot at the end of the server name here too. Then click “Continue”.

Click “Done”. If Outlook says instead that this domain is not supported on POP and that you should use IMAP, a dot is still at the end of a server name. Click “Advanced Setup” there, choose “POP” again and delete the dot after both server names. Check your password too. You do not need an app password.
Success!

Port 587, StartTLSUsername Your full email address Password Your mailbox password If it does not work
- The username must be the full email address, for incoming and for outgoing mail.
- Password rejected? Check upper and lower case. It is your mailbox password – when switching servers, the same one as before.
- Sending does not work? Try port 465 with SSL / TLS (recommended) for the outgoing server.
- A certificate warning almost always means a typing error in the server name.
- Receiving works but sending does not? Open “Settings” → “Accounts” → “Manage” → “Repair”. Type your password, switch “Show more” on and “Use recommended settings” off, type the password under “SMTP password” too and delete the dot at the end of the SMTP Outgoing server.
