This is how it looks now: the host name is mailin.euregio.net or relay.mailfilter.be at the top and mailout.euregio.net or relay.mailfilter.be at the bottom; the user name looks like eu123456. The heading shows whether this account uses IMAP or POP. Choose the same at the top of this page (IMAP or POP3), so that the following steps show the right details.
Do not delete the account. With POP3 your mail exists only on this device and would be lost.

At the top, for the incoming server: replace the user name with your full email address and the host name with pop3.mailprotect.be. Untick “Automatically manage connection settings” and check: port 995, “Use TLS/SSL” ticked, authentication “Password”. If it shows something else, change it.

At the bottom, for the outgoing server, the same: your full email address as user name, your password, host name smtp-auth.mailprotect.be. Untick “Automatically manage connection settings” here too: port 587, “Use TLS/SSL” ticked, authentication “Password”. If it shows something else, change it.

Click “Save” at the bottom right and close the window. If Mail then asks for the password, type your usual password.

Your settings at a glance
Incoming server (POP3) pop3.mailprotect.be
Port 995, “Use TLS/SSL” onOutgoing server (SMTP) smtp-auth.mailprotect.be
Port 587, “Use TLS/SSL” onUsername Your full email address Password Your mailbox password If it does not work
- The username must be the full email address, for incoming and for outgoing mail.
- Password rejected? Check upper and lower case. It is your mailbox password – when switching servers, the same one as before.
- Sending does not work? Try port 465 with “Use TLS/SSL” on for the outgoing server.
- A certificate warning almost always means a typing error in the server name.
- Could your program not connect before? Try again after changing the servers.
Modelled on macOS 26. Your program may differ slightly.
