Switch an existing account to the new servers
In Outlook for Android we set accounts up as IMAP. If you have used POP3 so far, set the account up as IMAP here – or call us.
-
1
Open Outlook. Tap the account icon at the top left and then the gear at the bottom left. If you are starting Outlook for the first time, tap “ADD ACCOUNT” instead and continue from the step where you type your email address.

2
Tap “Accounts”.

3
Tap the account you want to change.
Do you have several mail accounts in this program? Each one has to be changed separately.
Does it say “POP3” instead of “IMAP” above the address? Then do not remove this account: emails that exist only in this app would be lost. Please call us.

Outlook shows no server names for an existing account. So you remove the account and add it again straight away. With IMAP your emails stay on the server. Have your password ready and tap “REMOVE ACCOUNT”.

Port 587, StartTlsUsername Your full email address Password Your mailbox password If it does not work
- The username must be the full email address, for incoming and for outgoing mail.
- Password rejected? Check upper and lower case. It is your mailbox password – when switching servers, the same one as before.
- Sending does not work? Try port 465 with SSL/TLS for the outgoing server.
- A certificate warning almost always means a typing error in the server name.
- Could your program not connect before? Try again after changing the servers.
