Apple Computer and the Digital Village Collaborate on New Media Technology and Marketing Initiatives
CANNES, France (MILIA Exhibition)--February 9, 1996--As part of Apple's on-going commitment to create the most exciting and innovative new media content, Apple Computer, Inc. and The Digital Village (TDV) announced today the creation of a long term technology and marketing alliance. Using technology provided by Apple, TDV will enlist the most talented developers to create content that will have incarnations on the Internet, CD-ROM and television.
"We are excited about working with the best multimedia talent from around the world to develop cutting-edge and highly creative content for the Internet, CD-ROM and television," said Satjiv S. Chahil, senior vice president of corporate marketing, whose responsibilities include entertainment, new media and Internet at Apple. "We look forward to working with TDV to establish and promote the latest multimedia technologies."
"I have long been known as a devoted Apple user and I am delighted that we have been able to lay the foundations of a relationship between our two companies," said Douglas Adams, author of the Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and a founding director of The Digital Village. Now we have technologies beyond the dreams of science fiction and when the real creative artists finally get to grips with them, earthquakes will happen. That's how we see our job--purveyors of earthquakes."
"TDV's projects will be dependent on a keen and up-to-date understanding of present and future technological issues," said Robbie Stamp, managing director of TDV. "Our alliance with Apple is one of enormous value to our growth as a creative company."
