Over MacInUse

In de stack van november of december las ik dat iemand (nummer en naam vergeten) op zoek was naar een utility om de tijd te berekenen die hij had gespendeerd per project of per klant en dit eventueel te importeren in FileMaker.

De oplossing: MacInUse.
Deze utility staat beschreven in "The Macintosh Bible, Third Edition", pagina 888. Voor diegenen die dit boek niet bezitten, volgt hier de desbetreffende tekst:

"MacInUse is a terrific init that's invaluable if you do timebilling and need to know how much time you've spent working on a project for each client. It keeps track of how long you spend in each application, and/or on any document, putting the information in a text file that's readable by any word processor, database or spreadsheet program. This also makes it a great tool for network administrators, who can see how files are being utilized, and by whom.

Version 3.0 has a lot of small but important improvements over previous versions. You can tell MacInUse when to start the clock ticking - so for instance, if you go into an application for five minutes just to read a document, that doesn't have to go into the datasheet. You can make MacInUse ignore any time spent in the Finder, and define as idle time that won't be included on the clock time - so if you walk away from the computer, MacInUse knows you're not there if nothing's happening for the last five minutes (or whatever interval you choose).

Another useful option prompts you for specific information or a general comment each time a new application or document is opened for time-tracking - the information you enter in the dialog box is stored along with the rest of MacInUse's data."

*** Alleen... ik heb onze archieven eens doorzocht, en daarnaast nog een veertigtal CD's... Het programma is niet te vinden. Ook in de software lijst van meer dan 8000 commerciële programma's is het niet te vinden (in voornoemde geval mag het natuurlijk NIET gepubliceerd worden).
